In July of 1998, the Asociación De Amigos Por Los Animales De
Sosúa, Inc. (Association of Friends of the Animals of Sosúa, Inc.)
was established. We are a non-profit, tax-exempt organization
dedicated to improving the health and welfare of the animals that
live and breed on the streets of the North Coast of the Dominican
republic. The Association has been educating and working with
local communities with regard to how to respect and care for these
animals.
We provide emergency rescue and medical treatment,
surgical neutering, immunizations, and anti-parasitic drugs. We
also provide an adoption service, through which we have managed
to place dogs in need of love and care with families who are kind
and appreciate the tenderness and companionship that one of our
animals can offer.

The Kathryn Neal Animal Relief Fund, Inc. has been founded
in the United States as a tax exempt, non-profit organization
in memory of Kathryn Neal, animal activist and co-founder of
Asociación De Amigos Por Los Animales De Sosúa,
Inc, who lived and worked on the North Coast of the Dominican
Republic for the last 20 years of her life. Kathryn Neal believed
that one of the most effective ways of improving the quality of
life of all local animals is to promote free spay and neuter programs
in order to reduce the numbers of abandoned and homeless puppies
and kittens and to control the spread of transmissible diseases.
Over the years, the Asociación De Amigos Por Los Animales
De Sosúa, Inc has encountered a great interest from veterinarians
from around the world in donating their time and services. In
the past, transporting equipment and medicines through airports
created logistical problems to which no volunteer should be subjected.
Named after Kathryn Neals’s first adopted street dog (Linda),
the Kathryn Neal Animal Relief Fund, Inc. created and funded
Project Linda as a direct response to these logistical problems.
Project Linda is working to establish and maintain a permanent
locale for the Asociación De Amigos Por Los Animales De Sosúa,
Inc., to encompass a base for field projects, a facility in which
donated surgical equipment and medical supplies necessary for
sterilizations can be stored, a location for a spay/neuter clinic,
and a clinical setting in which animal healthcare professionals
can work, with temporary housing for animal after-care, as well
as for visiting volunteer veterinary medical staff.
For further information on the Kathryn Neal Animal Relief
Fund, Inc., refer to our HOME
page to review the entire Kathryn Neal Mission Statement. We
would like to invite you to help us to continue our work. Perhaps
you can donate some time to participate in our Spay/Neuter Clinics,
sponsor a dog, make a monetary contribution, or donate medical
equipment and supplies. Each and every gift is greatly appreciated.
refer to our TAX-EXEMPT
DONATIONS and our SPAY/NEUTER
CLINIC Page if you would like to contribute to our efforts.
